Dishwasher / Prep Cook

Primary Objective of Dishwasher / Prep Cook Position

A versatile team member who keeps the kitchen running smoothly by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation while assisting with daily food preparation. Duties include washing dishes, cleaning equipment and work areas, preparing ingredients, and supporting cooks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate the dishwashing area, cleaning and sanitizing dishes, glassware, silverware, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
• Keep the kitchen, dish room, cook line, and work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked.
• Sweep, mop, clean drains, counters, shelves, mats, and other kitchen areas while maintaining proper sanitation standards.
• Remove trash and help maintain a safe, clean work environment.
• Assist with banquet setup and breakdown, including cleaning dishes and supporting special events.
• Prepare ingredients, appetizers, salads, vegetables, desserts, and other menu items according to established recipes and standards.
• Set up and maintain prep stations, ensuring food is properly prepared, stored, and held at the correct temperature.
• Assist cooks with food preparation, plating, garnishing, and maintaining proper presentation.
• Help with special events and food stations, including carving, pasta, and omelet stations as needed.
• Assist with receiving and storing food products, including produce, meat, and seafood.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and food-handling procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment 

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. The employee is sometimes exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently to hot or cold interior conditions as well as moving mechanical parts, sharp cutting tools and hot external surfaces of kitchen cooking equipment. The employee must also be able to go up and down a flight of stairs while carrying 100 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
