Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking a motivated and skilled Sous Chef to join our culinary team at Sharp Metropolitan Medical Center in San Diego. This role is ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in a high‑standards, fast‑paced healthcare environment and is passionate about food safety, team development, and delivering exceptional service to patients, staff, and guests. As a key member of the leadership team, the Sous Chef will support daily culinary operations while helping drive innovation, safety, and quality across all service areas.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain full compliance with all local, state, federal, and Sodexo regulatory requirements
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are followed at all times without exception
  • Lead food and physical safety initiatives, including completion of annual safety training for all hourly production associates
  • Support and implement innovative and fresh culinary ideas across retail dining, catering, and patient services
  • Build strong interpersonal relationships with hospital clients, stakeholders, and care teams
  • Communicate effectively with multiple audiences, developing trust and strong relationships with customers and patients
  • Successfully multitask and perform in a high‑standards‑driven environment
  • Support daily production, quality control, and service execution while upholding Sodexo’s operational and brand standards

What You Bring

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with diverse teams and hospital partners Strong organizational, customer service, and computer proficiency skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and remain effective in a fast‑paced healthcare environment
  • ServSafe Certification required
  • Working knowledge of HACCP principles and hands‑on experience with health and safety audits
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in foodservice operations
