Job Summary
The Junior Sous Chef is responsible for supporting daily back-of-house operations and assisting in leading the team during service. Under the direction of the Sous Chef and Executive Chef, this role helps ensure food quality, safety, and consistency while reinforcing company standards.
The Junior Sous Chef is expected to be proficient across multiple stations, support service execution, and step in as needed to maintain flow and efficiency. This role plays a key part in kitchen organization, prep execution, and team support while continuing to develop leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
· Support back-of-house leadership during service to ensure quality, consistency, and timely execution.
· Assist with expediting orders and maintaining clear communication between kitchen and front-of-house teams.
· Ensure all dishes meet presentation and quality standards before leaving the kitchen.
· Step into any station as needed to support service flow and team efficiency.
· Assist with opening and closing procedures, including but not limited to prep checks, line setup, and breakdown.
· Support inventory organization and proper labeling and storage.
· Help maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards across all kitchen areas.
· Support training of new hires and reinforce kitchen standards and procedures.
Qualifications
· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
· 2–4 years of experience in a high-volume or fine-dining kitchen preferred.
· Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food safety, and culinary techniques.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Demonstrated ability to take initiative and grow into a leadership role.
· Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays is a must.
