We're looking for a wok cook to join our team at Wok to Walk. You'll prepare fresh Asian dishes using traditional wok cooking techniques in a high-volume setting. Wok cooking experience is not required but preferred.
Schedule
- Typically 5 days per week, 30-40 hours
- Shifts include opening (9:30 AM-4:30 PM), mid (11 AM-4:30 PM), and closing (4:30 PM-10 PM)
- Weekend and evening availability required
- Schedule varies based on business needs
Store Hours: Mon-Thu: 11 AM - 8 PM | Fri-Sat: 10 AM - 9 PM | Sun: 11 AM - 7 PM
Pay: $17-23/hour total ($17 base + $4-6 tips)
Primary Responsibilities
- Cook Asian dishes to order using wok cooking techniques
- Stir-fry meats, vegetables, noodles, and rice with proper technique and timing
- Maintain food quality, taste, and presentation standards
- Keep wok station clean and organized throughout shift
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines for consistency
- Monitor ingredient levels and communicate needs to manager
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
Secondary Responsibilities
- Assist at cashier, expo, or salad bar during busy periods when needed
- Help with food prep tasks (chopping, portioning, etc.)
- Help train new kitchen staff on basic techniques when needed
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Previous wok cooking or Asian cuisine experience preferred
- Must obtain Food Handler's card (or have current certification)
- Comfortable using a smartphone or tablet for digital checklists
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-heat environment
- Reliable and punctual
