We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Cook/Porter to support the daily food service operations within our corporate office kitchen. This hybrid role works closely with the Kitchen Supervisor to assist with food preparation, back-of-house operations, inventory support, and waste tracking while helping ensure consistent food quality and service standards. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. In addition to assisting with kitchen production, this role is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace by washing dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment, as well as performing general utility tasks that support the overall efficiency and cleanliness of the kitchen.

Responsibilities 

Kitchen Support & Food Preparation

  • Assist with daily food service operations in a corporate office setting, including food preparation, plating, and service support.
  • Support the preparation and execution of weekday food service while maintaining food quality and presentation standards.
  • Assist with receiving deliveries, organizing food supplies, and storing products in the appropriate areas.
  • Help track waste and assist with inventory organization as directed by the Kitchen Supervisor.

Sanitation & Kitchen Maintenance

  • Maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Clean and break down stations, equipment, and work surfaces throughout the day and after service.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors to maintain cleanliness and safety.
  • Remove trash and recycling from kitchen and café areas as needed.
  • Assist with cleaning the kitchen, café, and surrounding areas, including floors, walls, and workspaces.

Dish-washing & Utility Support

  • Wash dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, and pans using commercial dishwashing equipment.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dishwashing area, ensuring it is stocked with necessary supplies.

Team Collaboration & Service Support

  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen and on-site teams to maintain high food and service standards.
  • Communicate feedback from guests or team members to the management team to support continuous improvement.
  • Follow company guidelines, procedures, and operational checklists to ensure consistency in daily operations.

  • Demonstrate attention to detail, focus, and the ability to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Arrive to work on time in a clean and proper uniform, ready to perform assigned duties.
  • Show respect for team members and maintain a willingness to learn new procedures and contribute to a positive team environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience in a food and beverage, hospitality, or kitchen environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of food safety, sanitation standards, and proper food handling protocols.
  • Knowledge of maintaining food quality, organization, and kitchen cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high-quality food preparation and presentation standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to support inventory tracking and kitchen organization.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 30 pounds as required during daily kitchen operations.
  • Food Handler’s Certificate is a plus.

Location: New York, NY

Base salary: $24.00/hour
